Hong Kong Pulls Po Chai Pills because of Health Risks, Morning Post Says 2010-03-25 01:49:27.289 GMT By Frederik Balfour March 25 (Bloomberg) - Hong Kong 's Department of Health has instructed traditional Chinese medicine maker Li Chung Shing Tong (Holdings) to recall Po Chai pills after they were found to contain banned substances in Singapore, the South China Morning Post said. The pills, popular among sufferers from digestion problems, were found to contain phenolphthalein and sibutramine, substances that can lead to serious side effects, according to a department spokesman, the newspaper said. "Po Chai" (see images below) have been banned in Singapore. They are also being recalled in Hong Kong. Suzuki plans to use Sanyo as its battery supplier for an upcoming plug-in hybrid version of the Suzuki Swift . 60 test units of the plug-in hybrid equipped with the Sanyo batteries will be deployed in Suzuki dealerships across Japan in the second half of 2010. Sanyo joins a group of battery supplies engaged to supply batteries for plug-in hybrids including Panasonic for an upcoming plug-in Prius and LG Chem for the Chevrolet Volt. The Swift Hybrid plug-in car will be a series hybrid much like the Proton EMAS and the Chevrolet Volt. There is a 660cc combustion engine capable of 54 horsepower but its sole function is to run a generator that recharges the Sanyo batteries when needed when the batteries run out of wall socket charged juice. The batteries in turn power a 74 horsepower electric motor. It has been five years since the current Honda Civic made its debut. So based on the standard 5 year product plan, a new model should be unveiled later this year. Not so, says Honda, which cites changing market conditions and emissions regulations as the reasons behind the pushed back release to 2011. “In general, we are not changing cycles. We change vehicles as need be. The ability to do something based on more current information is better than waiting a full model cycle. Jaguar plans to introduce hybrid variants of the XJ, XF and the XK, expected to hit the market by 2013-2014. This comes after sister company Land Rover announced similar plans starting with the hybrid Range Rover Sport in 2013. Old or new, we’ve never been big fans of the Cayenne’s looks. Now, look what Topcar has done to the second-gen yet to be launched Cayenne. The Russian tuning firm has developed three different styling packages for the super SUV. Each model gets a 200 horsepower boost from 550 to 750 bhp and will sit on forged wheels. Other standard offerings include new side mirrors and added LED lighting. The first of the three packages is the Cayenne Advantage 2, which has Porsche 911 headlights and includes front and rear spoiler bumpers, extended fenders, side skirts, wide door caps and a new bonnet.
